Educational Video Series

The Timber Harvester Educational Video Series was born as a result of listening and responding to the needs of sawyers from all across the country. At our many seminars, we have met seasoned mill owners and sawyers, as well as "would like-to-be" owners, striving to improve their skills and ensure the profitability of their businesses through education. The most commonly asked question is;

"What is the most efficient way to produce the highest grade lumber out of the poorest logs"?

To answer this question and many others, we felt that a basic knowledge of hardwood lumber grade rules was imperative. Therefore, with the assistance of a Senior Forester with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, we addressed this need through the development of the "Grading & Sawing Hardwood Lumber" seminar. Many participants requested that the information be presented on video for the benefit of those unable to attend and for post seminar reinforcement. As a result, and with the assistance of Duprey Video Productions, the first three videos in our educational series were developed.

Volume 1 - "Introduction To Hardwood Lumber Grading"
Volume 2 - "Describing Basic Hardwood Lumber Grade Rules"
Volume 3 - "Applying Grade Rules to Sawing"

This series has been extremely popular and has since evolved to include the following topics:

Volume 4 - "Demonstrating Hardwood Grade Sawing"
Volume 5 - "Quarter Sawing, Live & Inside-out Sawing"
Volume 6 - "Hardwood Log Grading & Scaling"
Volume 7 - "Understanding How Lumber Dries"

Additional video topics that are currently in the development or production stages include:

"Air Drying & The Solar Dry Kiln"
"Comparing Conventional Dry Kiln Methods"
"Marketing Wood Forest Products"
"Assessing the Value of Your Standing Timber ......... and more!

Based on Seminars Featuring a Senior Forester with the
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
